Busy day ahead, getting trained in ELNEC – AACN’s End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium today, and then a full night of class (getting up this early was a distasteful struggle, I do admit).
Quickly, and even more unrelatedly – here’s the best article I’ve read all week. Written by former lawmaker, Paul Gionfriddo for Health Affairs, it details his struggle with a broken mental health system he admits to creating. The article tracks the course of his son Tim, who he says, it has failed.
The line: “Mental illnesses won’t disappear by pretending they’re a failure of personal will any more than congestive heart disease will disappear by pretending people diagnosed with the disease could run a marathon if they’d only try,” rang particularly true.
Happy reading.
